Home Decor Basics
What keeps many people from creating the beautiful home decor they desire is a lack of confidence. We worry "Is this the right color?", "Does this match?", "Is that sofa the right size?" and so on. One of the things I hope to accomplish is to give you the interior decorating basics you need so that you know you are making good interior design decisions.
Lines Divine

The spindles on the backs of these bar stools mimic the other lines in the room, including the windowpanes, wainscot on the walls and ceiling, and louvered doors on the cabinets.
The Right Light

Details make the difference. Adding interest to this space in a light palette is the decorative wrought-iron pot rack, the treasured collectables displayed above the wall cabinets, and box beams that span the length of the ceiling. The tile floor does its part by adding a measure of pattern.
Roll with It

Valances let in as much natural light as possible. For privacy, roller shades can be installed underneath them.
Coming Full Circle

A large whirlpool tub often becomes the focal point of the bathroom, its prominence here emphasized by the circular window and the pitched ceiling above.
Modern

Modern, elegant and sophisticated living room.
Living with Harmony

This room combines classic modern elements, particularly in the upholstery. Included are Cole Porter chairs, woven iron ribbons coffee table, ebony floor lamps and lacquered coffee table. Above the fireplace is Carmel River Estuary by Edward Bruce, oil on canvas. The area rug is from Tibet.
A Master Plan

The view from this window makes guests feel they are looking at a gigantic landscape painting. The pocket windows in the master bedroom open to frame this painting by nature.
